Local author Bobby Gaines, BOE chair Bryant Turner and elementary media specialists with copies of Blossum Possum learns to save

After a donation from Carroll County Board of Education Chairman Bryant Turner, a  local author's children's book teaching financial literacy is available in every Carroll County Schools media center.

Turner was so struck by the message of the book and the need for sound money management skills that he purchased copies of "Blossom Possum Learns to Save" from author Dr. Bobby Gaines and presented them to media specialists January 10.

"I'm so glad to be able to highlight local author Bobby Gaines from the Bowdon community and his new book by making sure every student in our schools has access to it," Turner said. "We are blessed with so many people in our community who offer wonderful investments in the students of Carroll County Schools. This provides yet another Premier opportunity for our families in Carroll County."

Gaines, who teaches at both University of Alabama and University of West Georgia, is a born storyteller who uses the character of Blossom Possum to teach the wisdom of responsible spending, saving for the future and giving to others. He and his wife Beth live in Bowdon with their five adoptive children. The hardcover book is beautifully illustrated by Stacy Jordon.
