Villa Rica High School Wins 3rd in State Academic Decathlon

Villa Rica High School placed third in the Division 1 (large school) State Academic Decathlon competition at Berkmar High School on February 24th - 25th. This year's theme was WWII, and the students studied seven areas of academics relating to WWII. The students presented a 3 1/2-4 minute prepared speech, a 1 1/2 minute impromptu speech, participated in an Interview, and wrote a timed essay. Brendan Porter, a sophomore on the team, scored higher than any decathlete at the state competition and brought home a gold in economics, social science, art, music and a silver in science. Devin Hodges won a gold in social science and a silver in economics.  Heather Cook brought home a silver medal in Interview. Avery Hill won a bronze in literature. Congratulations to our VRHS Wildcat Academic Decathlon Team!
