Mitch Springer Named Principal of Villa Rica Elementary School

Mr. Mitch Springer was named Principal of Villa Rica Elementary School at the March 13, 2017, Carroll County Board of Education work session.  

Mr. Springer has served as the  Assistant Principal at Villa Rica Elementary School since 2014. He began his career in education with the Clarke County School System in 1998, before transitioning into the finance industry for many years.  He later taught science at Bowdon Middle School.  In 2011, Mr. Springer was hired at Carrollton Elementary where he served as the Assistant Principal until he returned to Carroll County Schools in 2014.  

Mr. Springer’s educational credentials include his bachelor’s and master's degrees in History from the University of Georgia, a Specialist Degree in Middle Grades Education from LaGrange College, and he is currently awaiting his dissertation in the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Mr. Springer stated, "I feel truly blessed to be apart of Carroll County Schools and afforded the opportunity to serve the  students and community of Villa Rica as the principal of VRE. I truly love the Villa Rica Community and look forward to the academic growth of our students. I would like to thank Mr. Cowart and the Carroll County Board of Education for this wonderful opportunity.”

Superintendent Scott Cowart stated, “Mr. Springer is a passionate educator and leader with a wealth of experience in elementary education. His energy, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence make him a perfect fit for his new position.”

Additional administrative personnel were also appointed at the March 13 work session for the 2017-2018 school year. Mr. Scotty Long was named Assistant Principal at Central High School. Mr. Long comes to Carroll County from Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville. Shawn Bissell will be an Assistant Principal at Villa Rica High School, Lakisha Mitchell will be an Assistant Principal at Temple Elementary and Chuck Robinson will serve as Assistant Principal at Central Middle School.
