Carroll County School System Names 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year

Angela Little (pictured in the center), of Villa Rica Middle School, was named Carroll County School System Teacher of the Year at the Board Meeting on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Ms. Little has been with the Carroll County School System for 5 years. She is a graduate of Toccoa Falls College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in middle grades education with concentrations in math and science.

Ms. Little’s  Teacher of the Year application will now be sent to the State Department of Education where she will compete for the 2018-2019 Georgia Teacher of the Year.  The state winner will be selected Spring 2018.                                                  

Mrs. Jessica Bohlen (pictured left), of Temple High School was named first runner-up, and Mr. Eric Fussell (pictured right), of Mount Zion Middle School was named second runner-up for System Teacher of the Year.

Superintendent Scott K. Cowart stated, “Carroll County is fortunate to have premier teachers, and those recognized tonight are a shining example of why we have great community focused schools. We are very proud of all of this year’s nominees, and we greatly appreciate their service and dedication.”

Carroll County Schools recognized community representatives who served as judges and  sponsors who supported the Teacher of the Year Recognition Program. Judges included Mrs. Susan Hale with Bank of North Georgia, Mrs. Kim Jones with Community Foundation of West Georgia and Jill Drake, with the University of West Georgia. Sponsorships and support were provided by Southwire, Whorton Insurance Agency, Smith’s Flooring Covering, West Georgia Ambulance, American Pie Pizzeria, J & R Construction, King Street Car Care, Southern A & E, Ozier Apparel, Almon Funeral Home, Southern Sales & Marketing, Rollins Automotives, PAGE, Mountain Oak Florist, Chick-fil-a, 4 a.m. Coffee Roasters and Georgia Association of Educators.
