Bowdon Elementary School Selected for 2017 SSSTAGE Star Award

Bowdon Elementary School has been selected to receive the 2017 SSTAGE Star Award for Promising Practices at the Elementary level. The SSTAGE Board of Directors considered the following characteristics of effective Pyramid of Interventions and Response to Intervention (RTI) practices:

* Effective systematic problem solving process at each tier

* Coordinated system of instructional/behavioral supports/resources

* Coordinated system of assessment and progress monitoring

* Job-embedded professional learning and ongoing teacher supports

* A systematic plan for parent/family communication and involvement

SSTAGE President, Amanda Sailors stated, “For schools to be successful, it takes extraordinary leadership and teamwork at the local school level and continuous support from the system level. In recognizing Bowdon Elementary School for their accomplishments, we also recognize the Carroll County Board of Education for supporting their efforts. The research on MTSS best practices is clear: administrative support is essential and connecting MTSS to ongoing school improvement efforts is the linchpin for sustained, long-term gains in student achievement.”

Bowdon Elementary School will provide educators in Georgia with an exemplary model of MTSS and Pyramid of Interventions at the elementary school level. SSTAGE will proudly showcase this year's winners at a future professional learning event and Bowdon Elementary School will be formally recognized at next year's SSTAGE Promising Practices Conference.
