2017 Carroll County Schools STAR English Learners and STAR ESOL Teacher

Mar 30 2017

The Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) seeks to identify and recognize Georgia’s English Learners and ESOL Educators for their “Excellence in Achievement.” Each school system was asked to nominate outstanding senior English Learners for their accomplishments in school. The nominees had to satisfy specific GADOE qualifications and guidelines which included student achievement, extracurricular activities, attendance, and conduct. The Carroll County School System is pleased to recognize Shrey Patel, senior at Bowdon High School, and Daniela Acuna, senior at Temple High School for their Excellence in Achievement. Both Shrey and Daniela have nominated Mrs. Annette Ingram as their STAR ESOL Teacher.

Both students will advance to the state competition where six students (two in our geographical region) will be selected to represent the state of Georgia. If selected, the ESOL Student(s) and Mrs. Ingram will be invited to a formal award ceremony and reception with Georgia’s School Superintendent, Mr. Richard Woods.  The award ceremony and reception will be held on May 10, 2017 at the GADOE. The Carroll County School System will recognize Shrey Patel, Daniela Acuna, and Mrs. Annette Ingram at the April 20, 2017 Board Meeting.
