During this time of concern about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are closely monitoring updates from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH), and our local health agencies. The health and well-being of our students and staff is always a top priority for the Carroll County School System.
COVID-19 Weekly Update
- Every Monday, the school district will post a weekly snapshot of COVID-19 cases in Carroll County Schools.
- Student records are protected by state law and the school district cannot release information that could be used to identify a student. Additionally, students and staff are protected by the federal HIPAA law.
- When a school has a confirmed case of COVID-19, the district notifies the Department of Public Health and works quickly to identify “close contacts.” Students or staff who are confirmed cases of COVID-19 and any close contacts cannot return to school until they have met the requirements established by DPH.
- The term “quarantined” refers to someone who has been sent home due to possible exposure to a positive COVID-19 case or who is awaiting test results of their own. There are many reasons (another illness, an injury, family emergency) that could cause an absence of 24 hours or multiple days. For these cases, students and staff are not considered “quarantined”.
