TRANSPORTATION NEWS: SAFETY

The mission of the Carroll County Schools Transportation Department is to provide safe and efficient transportation for our students. We will strive to promote a positive start to the educational day by exhibiting compassion, integrity, and professionalism.

Our goal is to constantly improve the safety and efficiency of our department. In order to help us achieve our goal, we have a staff development program for our bus drivers called the Tier Program. Bus drivers can become Advanced Bus Drivers and Bus Managers by completing a series of safety training classes. The tier classes cover a wide range of safety topics including, Defensive Driving, Introductory Spanish, CPR and First Aid, Fire Safety, Gang Recognition, Bullying Prevention, and Health and Wellness.

Our program is unique because there are very few programs like it in Georgia. We have an excellent relationship with all of the public safety agencies in Carroll County, which allows us to offer such a comprehensive list of training classes. Our drivers respond well by participating in large numbers.

In addition to the Tier Program, we also hold a School Bus Road-E-O each year. The Road-E-O is a skills competition involving ten different driving exercises. Drivers are encouraged to improve their safe driving skills through the spirit of competition.
