PAID BENEFITS
Benefits paid completely by the Carroll County Board of Education for eligible employees:
  • Group Term Life & Accidental Death and Dismemberment - Basic Life: $12,500, AD&D $12,500 for teachers
  • Sick/Personal Leave - Employees earn sick leave at the rate of 1.25 days per month worked; with permission, three of these days may be used as personal leave
  • Annual Leave - Twelve month classified employees earn annual leave at the rate of .84 per month(10 days per year). certified employees earn annual leave as per policy - 12-18 days based on 12 month cantracted positions in Carroll County Schools.
  • National Teacher Certification Supplement - State pays an annual supplement to teachers holding National Certificates
  • Paid Sick Leave Upon Retirement - Unused sick leave paid at $30 per day or may be counted towards retirement for TRS members up to a maximum of 90 days.
  • Jury Duty Leave - Paid leave that does not count against sick/personal leave; jury duty pay may be kept by employees

SHARED BENEFITS
Benefits funded partially by the Carroll County Board of Education with the remainder paid by the eligible employees:
  • Group Dental Benefits - Employee pays single premium of $25.95 per month. Annual Maximum: $1500, Annual Deductible: $50, Preventative: 100%, Basic: 80%, Major: 50%, Orthodontic Lifetime maximum: $1500
  • Georgia Teacher Retirement - Retirement benefits payable after a minimum of 10 years service at age 60 or 30 years service regardless of age. Employer contribution of 9.28% of employee’s monthly salary, employee contribution 5%
  • Social Security and MedicareBenefits payable at age 62 (reduced) or age 65. Employer contribution 7.65% of employee’s monthly salary, employee contribution 7.65%
  • Health InsuranceVarious plans available - PPO or Indemnity Option State Health or choice of 3 HMOs administered by State Health benefit plan. Employer contribution of $162.72 per month for classified employees and 18.534% of state base salary of certificated employees. Employee contributions vary by plan

OPTIONAL BENEFITS
Benefits selected and paid for completely by eligible employees:
  • Vision Insurance - Employee pays $6.65 per month, which covers: in network $10; copay for exams and $25 material copay for lenses and frames or contacts. Optional family coverage is $16.37
  • Additional Individual and Family Life Insurance - Optional life coverages for employee: $10,000-$50,000; family-$10,000 on spouse and $5,000 on children. Supplemental life: 5 times annual salary up to$500,000 on employee and spouse, another $5,000 per child
  • Short Term and Long Term Disability - Plans available with benefits of 66 2/3% of salary; up to $3,000 per month
  • Family Health Insurance - Coverage same as employee; see Health Insurance under shared benefits
  • Family Dental Insurance - Coverage same as employee; see Dental Insurance under shared benefits. Premium is $93.81
  • Cancer and Intensive Care - Coverage available for individuals or families for treatment of cancer, or extended stays in intensive care
  • Sick Leave Pool - After one year of employment and accrual of 2 days of sick leave, employee is eligible to join sick leave pool. Members can request withdrawal of up to 60 days additional sick leave per year in the event that all sick leave (and annual if app.) is exhausted due to serious illness or injury as verified by a medical doctor

OTHER SELECTED BENEFITS
  • Cafeteria Plan - Under IRS Section 125, employees may designate specific benefits to be deducted from pay prior to calculation of federal taxes, such as dependent day care and medical reimbursement accounts
  • Automatic Payroll Deposit - New employees are required to have paychecks electronically deposited.
  • Credit Union - Services available to all employees
  • Tax Sheltered Annuities - Many personal retirement annuity programs available, such as fixed accounts and mutual funds offered through payroll deduction
