Carroll County Earns District Accreditation


Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) has named Carroll County Schools a SACS district accredited school system. This achievement was announced to the Carroll County Board of Education at a called meeting on November 19, 2008,

Mrs. Lucille Wolfrey, SACS CASI Education Specialist, chaired the ten-member Quality Assurance Review (QAR) team that reviewed the district's performance on meeting criteria within seven SACS CASI standards. The QAR team conducted a three-day visit for the purpose of collecting and reviewing evidence to measure the system's performance.

The ten team members spent the first day engaged in a District presentation, interviewing the superintendent, principals, county office administrators, and county office support staff. The second day, the team visited seven schools: Glanton Hindsman Elementary, Mt. Zion Elementary, Bay Springs Middle,Central Middle, Bowdon High, Temple High, and the Technical Education Center. During the school visits, the team members observed in classrooms and interviewed staff, students, parents and other stakeholders. The third day, the team reviewed the evidence and wrote the report.

The exit report including the recommendation for District Accreditation was presented by Mrs. Wolfrey to the superintendent and Board of Education in a called board meeting on Wednesday, November 19. Mrs. Wolfrey stated that SACS CASI will also provide a published report to the district within 30 days. Following announcement of district accreditation, Carroll County Schools will continue to engage in self study for district continuous improvement.
