Sharp Creek Elementary
Sharp Creek Elementary School was selected as one of the 54 schools across the state to receive a USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant. Students receive a fresh fruit or vegetable daily as a snack at no charge to the parents. The purpose of the grant is to increase awareness of fresh product and the nutritional benefits of eating healthy snacks.

Carroll County School Nutrition Association
Carroll County School Nutrition Association received the Gold Scroll Award from the Georgia School Nutrition Association for the 2008-2009 year. This award is given to a school system for its accomplishments in providing quality nutrition programs to its students. Jane Welborn, manager at Bowdon Elementary School, was the local President for 2007-2008.

Carroll County School Nutrition Program was selected as the USDA Southeast Regional Winner in the Best Practices category of Improving Student Participation in 2006.

Congrats Donna Helton
Carroll County won second place in the District PR Portfolio for the Georgia School Nutrition Association contest. Donna Helton, Manager at Temple High and Laura Higdon, SNP Secretary, are responsible for compiling the winning entry.

Congrats Bridgett Cross
Bridgett Cross, lead manager for the school system, received one scholarship and a grant-in-aid from the Georgia School Nutrition Association to further her education. She also received a national scholarship from the Schwans Corporation. Bridgett is the Sixth District President of the Georgia School Nutrition Association.

Lisa George, the Bay Springs Middle Nutrition Advisory Council came in second place in the State NAC of the Year contest.
