Carroll County Schools Academic Learning Goals K - 5

The elementary instructional program for Carroll County Schools serves children in grades PK-5. Elementary grades are housed at eleven community school sites as follows:



The elementary instructional program focuses on meeting the unique needs of young children. Instructional activities are designed to provide opportunities for students to actively participate in their learning. The elementary curriculum includes an integrated, skill-based language arts program (reading, writing, spelling, and English / language), math, science, social studies, health, physical education and fine arts. The basic program of elementary instruction is supported by a variety of programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse and growing student population. Programs such as Title I, the Early Intervention Program, gifted services and a variety of special education programs work in tandem to support learners across the system. Technological programs support and enhance learning across all areas of the curriculum. Writing Across the Curriculum reinforces the learning process across all grade levels.
